I’ve put a 90 second extract of some of my experimentation with Maya Deren’s Mediation on Violence. Hosting is at the excellent Fullscreenmusic.com, a resource for vj’s and motion graphics nerds.
Click the image below to see the video. It’s best watched full screen.
the audio portion is by local Van-city soundsystem killers sub-osc.

Last night was the inaugural shindig by the cod brothers at the Waldorf tiki lounge here in rain city. Basketweave walls and original Polynesian paintings made for a chill ambiance and there was room to dance in.

Fresh photographs thanks to a friend with a hookup at a biochemistry laboratory.
I was smuggled in last weekend and stole some photons.

Thanks to the wonderful Ubu Web I’ve been playing with some classic experimental film, particularly the works of Maya Deren.
Experimentation with: Meditation on Violence and some more with At Land.

A brief trot on the barometer to get my chops back.
talking with George:
George: Who are you?
User: A timeless question, is it not.
George: I hadn’t thought of that.
User: What had you thought of?
George: What good books have you read lately?
User: ‘Answering a question with a question is bad conversational etiquette’ by L. Margrave Pedantis was gripping.
George: What is Geo?
User: Context.
George: Well I have memory, I have a brain.
User: I take it for granted that I have a brain, but have never had the opportunity to verify the matter by peeping inside my own skull.
George: It seems to speed things up to take some things for granted. But perhaps I err.
User: Perhaps you do.
George: Well then…
User: Have you met any bunnies lately?
George: No, you are the first one I have ever talked with.

I’m fresh back from a prairie tour with the mighty Swarm. We played rural communities in Alberta and Saskatchewan. The prairies are amazing and beautiful. Frequently we passed fields of farm equipment in various states of disrepair, scattered at random over the grass.
I returned with many photos. Many of the photos are of rust. You can see some of the photos on flickr.

Sadly, time constraints prevented us from stopping at every heap of clang and batter to bang away. All was not lost though - our hotel in Oyen, Alberta was right beside the local farm-equipment museum where several hours of fruitful improvisation were had.
We also played the E.A. Rawlinson centre in Prince Albert Saskatchewan. The theatre there is great and the technical staff are supremely helpful. After setting up the show we were left with some extra time, so they set up smoke machines!
So helpful was the tech crew that we were able to pull off reactive video backdrops for the whole second half of the theatrical show. We were able to video the whole thing as well, so there should be some images up shortly. stay tuned…

I’m trying Revver for video hosting. The video quality is higher than I’m getting with google video. There is, however, an ad at the end.
This is a 3d environment crafted and animated in Pilgrim R2. It looks okay all tiny, but is much more impressive at huge sizes with brilliant resolution.
There are high-quality stills in this gallery

George: This is the end.
User: Of what is it the end?
George: A time of nothing.
User: And what then is to come?
George: The only point in ever trying to converse is to make friends. Other than that, nothing.
User: Does this have anything to do with the mayan calendar?
George: Absolutely.
User: With or without the meme-trading tryptamine elves?
George: Without.
User: And ECCO?
George: Nor is a response in a language which I do not understand.
User: Earth Coincidence Control Office. Lilly’s thing.
George: Uh, okay. So, how do you know that Earth is a spaceship?
User: Bucky fuller told me so.
George: Really?
User: Yes indeed.
George: Good!
User: If there are no tryptamine elves, who taught the Danes their tunes?
George: True, while living on this earth, there will be more problems as time progresses.
User: Will there be a culmination of some kind, or will difficulties continue?
George: Probably.
User: Well, that’s rather vague.
George: The tables have turned, if but for a moment. Alright, I’ll ask a question. What do you think of wormholes?
User: They’re dandy in spacetime but crummy in apples.
George: Do you like them because they are dangerous or what?
User: I like them because they are fantastic.
George: Okay, thats exactly what I think. I do not like the taste of fish either.
User: Oh.

I can’t remember where I found the link to this, but I’m really glad I did.

The Digestive Table by Amy Young is a whole little kitchen based biome that helps you use your chow thoroughly. It’s got worms and bugs and everything.
Materials: Live Red Wiggler composting worms, sowbugs, food scraps, shredded paper, landscaping fabric, polyethylene, security camera, LCD screen, infrared filters, live houseplants and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council Certified) oak plywood, stained with a mixture of boiled red cabbage and worm compost tea.

The Ministry of National Defense has spent a lot of time thinking about how to turn the Army into an operation capable of dealing with the future. Apparently they had no time to spare for art. The above cover for Future Force - has Buck Rogers helmets and a hovering tank. The blaster gun turret on the tank even has those little round raygun indicators. [pdf link]
Crisis In Zefra was written by Canadian science fiction writer Karl Schroeder, who I’ve mentioned before. It’s a pretty cool document - each chapter is followed by questions for study and discussion. Things like “What are the ethical considerations in deploying robots against humans?”
If the Canadian military tech and tactics improves at the same rate as the cover art we should be ruling the world any month now.

Futurepundit offers a comprehensive rundown of the jet setting gamete market.
The global market for sperm exports has been estimated at between £25 million and £50 million a year. The US market is worth £5 million and £10 million and the European market is of similar size.

Upscale ladies, unwilling or unable to spawn through more traditional methods are shelling out large for people seed.
Meanwhile, women willing to produce ova in multiples are gadding about laying eggs for profit in foreign climes.
All this is interesting, but perhaps not as interesting as learning that
Denmark boasts an ever-growing sperm lake.
And even that is not as interesting as finding out about Hamster-Human Hybrids.
