I’ve put a 90 second extract of some of my experimentation with Maya Deren’s Mediation on Violence. Hosting is at the excellent Fullscreenmusic.com, a resource for vj’s and motion graphics nerds.
Click the image below to see the video. It’s best watched full screen.
the audio portion is by local Van-city soundsystem killers sub-osc.

Last night was the inaugural shindig by the cod brothers at the Waldorf tiki lounge here in rain city. Basketweave walls and original Polynesian paintings made for a chill ambiance and there was room to dance in.

Fresh photographs thanks to a friend with a hookup at a biochemistry laboratory.
I was smuggled in last weekend and stole some photons.

Thanks to the wonderful Ubu Web I’ve been playing with some classic experimental film, particularly the works of Maya Deren.
Experimentation with: Meditation on Violence and some more with At Land.

I’m fresh back from a prairie tour with the mighty Swarm. We played rural communities in Alberta and Saskatchewan. The prairies are amazing and beautiful. Frequently we passed fields of farm equipment in various states of disrepair, scattered at random over the grass.
I returned with many photos. Many of the photos are of rust. You can see some of the photos on flickr.

Sadly, time constraints prevented us from stopping at every heap of clang and batter to bang away. All was not lost though - our hotel in Oyen, Alberta was right beside the local farm-equipment museum where several hours of fruitful improvisation were had.
We also played the E.A. Rawlinson centre in Prince Albert Saskatchewan. The theatre there is great and the technical staff are supremely helpful. After setting up the show we were left with some extra time, so they set up smoke machines!
So helpful was the tech crew that we were able to pull off reactive video backdrops for the whole second half of the theatrical show. We were able to video the whole thing as well, so there should be some images up shortly. stay tuned…

I’m trying Revver for video hosting. The video quality is higher than I’m getting with google video. There is, however, an ad at the end.
This is a 3d environment crafted and animated in Pilgrim R2. It looks okay all tiny, but is much more impressive at huge sizes with brilliant resolution.
There are high-quality stills in this gallery

My lighthearted paean to the future “lifeboat” has been transmogrified at ccMixter by one Duncan Beattie, Scottish smoker and pixel wrangler.
For your merriment:

For some time now cryptic Athens GA beat splicer Dr. Concoction has been working on a collection of remixes. He’s mashed eight of the pieces from my ill-fated book of poetry [Opsethai] into percussive structures.
Hard copies of the cd will be distributed through the usual methods, but the whole thing is available online, collected below.

Just back from the night’s show at open/inputs at the Soma cafe on Main St. I played with Michael Red (organizer and penguin enthusiast) and noise duo MARK BRADY + EMMA HENDRIX. Emma made noise, Mark chopped it up.
I had a lot of fun - my material was all audio-responsive 3d with particle generators. A selection of still photographs I’d taken provided background colourfields. I had no idea what to expect musically but it worked out well.
