While being more than usually uncommunicative, I have been busy.

The last 9 months have been preoccupied with the gestation and birth of a son.
Most of the work on that front was accomplished by my lovely wife – I tried not to spend too much time hepling.

In June King Ore orchestrated an evening of Doom Lounge as part of the In the House Festival. Excerpts from the performance will make their way online eventually. These things have a way of taking longer than it seems they should.
Thanks to Daniel Lunn, Mythical Man, Mr. Fire Man, Sascha Levin, Curtis Mathewson and Olo J. Milkman. (also to the Judies!)

June also provided an opportunity to do some live visuals and guest lecture at a Plasmatron Laboratories underground Art Party and Channeling.
Those Visuals were projected again as part of New Forms Festival 11.
Thanks to Olo, Atef, and Psimon for the bright lights.

And upcoming? Who knows.

A synthesizer for the voice, based on recorded vocabularies of sung words, sounds and forms. The composer can control pitch, timbre, stress, tone, timing, all the variables and specify them exactly. The software does the singing. It’s a syrinx. We have emulated the birds. Lovely. Astonishing.

We’ve used this technology to give voice to space elf bunny girls in photon tights and gogo boots.

Frederick Brummer from Lift Studios came to my house a while ago and had me rant at his camera machine for posterity. The fruits of that interview are up on the lift website in full-screen flashy loveliness.

Part one is pretty good, part two is funnier (the little transport bar at the top of the window has the link to part two) and contains valuable advice for participants the Vancouver underground electronic music scene.

Check it out.

Which led me back to the GRL Laser Tag installation in Rotterdam, which I’ve long admired (Though until now I hadn’t read the how-to. If anyone would like to help me procure a heap of pricey tech, this would be fun to do on the south wall of the sugar refinery.

Right now I am looking at learning vvvv, but here is a video about a book on Processing that makes a pretty compelling case for learning that environment.
